A HIDDEN GEM IN HILLS OF UTTARAKHAND: DARBAR ORGANIC FARM RESORT, RANICHAURI, CHAMBA

 

                            The ongoing covid pandemic had ushered in a quiet start of 2021 this year  and to celeberate the new year eve avoiding the  ususal festive crowds in popular tourist places of mussoorie,rishikesh and haridwar, we decided to visit this quaint heritage home stay located in ranichauri near chamba in uttarakhand. Its a 3 hours drive from dehradun via rishikesh and the entire  hill drive is very scenic with breathtaking views of the mountains and forests on way. Rani chauri near chamba is an upcoming destination yet to be found and explored by the avid travellers especially those looking for a weekend getaway from the hustle bustle of city crowd.

Darbar organic farm resort is a secluded getaway located on road .This was our second trip to darbar. First time we had accidentally located this gem of a place while looking for a night halt on our long road trip to various towns of uttarakhand.Since i am always on a lookout for a offbeat less explored place, this turned out to be a lovely surprise. However, it has been currently refurbished and revamped by the new management.Its not a resort  but actually a homestay with a kind of pahari architecture and  an old heritage property with a display of traditional and old era artifects in and around property .

There is a large agricultural land attached with the estate which adds to the   name of the resort .The rooms are minimally furnished , clean well lighted with sufficient space and staff of the place takes well care of your needs. Most importantly the property gives an opportunity to be closer to the calmness and pristine beauty of nature with surrounding forests, breathtaking views of the mountains opposite to it  and as the night dawns, the small hamlets located in the mountains all around light up and sparkle like small fairy lights. Infact , you are also fortunate to witness the glory of sunset and sunrise from there.

Those who wish to take an excursion around the place, have an option to visit tehri lake nearby and the owner of place ,sarthak  is very hospitable and attentive to comfort of the guests staying there,  can suggest things to do in and around there.

 It was a definitely a quiet and wonderful experience in Darbar welcoming the   advent of a new beginning , a new optimistic year hopefully free of covid.    ..........would love to visit it again  and recommend a must visit to all those who wish to spend such peaceful moments of solitude  surrounded by  the proud  majestic mountains of uttarakhand.

           Its a place that always reminds me of the beautiful lines by  Robert Frost                    ,Stopping by woods on a Snowy Evening ,😀
